Nesting Level - How To Discuss

Writer Rachel Newton

Nesting Level

A webpage's nesting level refers to its position in the website hierarchy relative to its parent page. The nesting level is indicated by a number, such as 1 or 2. For example, a website's home page would have a nesting level of 1. Think of this home page as the root of the rest of the web pages that follow. they will branch. These branches can be documents with nest level 2. Then the branches coming from these branches have nest level 3, and so on. When setting and optimizing nesting levels, always keep in mind that other documents should not be more than 2 clicks away from the main site page. By moving the source further away, you are essentially hiding information that the search engine finds too complicated and will be biased in the search results.
