Tire Aspect Ratio 60 Vs 55

What is the difference between 55r tires and 60r tires? 3

I have a LeBaron 94 that needs tires. Currently on 205 / 55r16 tires, but I would like to know if I can save a lot of money by using 205 / 60r16. 55 years old is not cheap.

Here is a list of all the numbers.

205 = The width of the tire cross section or the width of the tire at its widest point in millimeters. In this case, 205 mm (or 8 inches).

55/60 = aspect ratio. This is the height of the sidewall of the tire as a percentage of the width of that part (the part that moves the wheel). Basically it is 55% or 60% of 205 mm.

R = shows only the radial structure. Long explanation, but all you need to know is that it is a Z-tire.

16 = diameter of the steering wheel, in this case the diameter of the wheel is 16 inches.

In principle, in the 60's, you would consider 1/2 larger tires, which could cause you to lose your pedometer (approximately 56 mph to 60 mph, give or take) and slow down the car. (Heavy, large radius) can accelerate. Obviously using the right size is the best option but if this is not possible then larger tires can be used. I just took a look at the tires and I'm surprised you are right, the 55s are much more expensive, which is not to be expected, but in most cases you can get $ 810 per tire, or inflated tires. Looking for a difference of $ 3,240. . Set to the correct size.

This value refers to the relationship between the width of the toe and the size of the side walls. As a result, ODs can be slightly different in the 60's, leading to incorrect SD and mileage.

The tire rack has a tool to calculate it. Try the site, you can find it.
