What is the correct expression when the worst happens with the worst or when the worst happens with the worst? 3

I told a friend that if it was the worst, the second version would be correct, but he disagreed because the worst version had to be grammatically correct. I am trying to explain that it is not always necessary to respect grammar. But I doubt myself, can you help me?

lol it's really nny! Years ago I took a child development course at school and one of the things she mentioned was that she never told the child to wait for the mother to pick me up.
