Ect Power Toyota - How To Discuss

Why does the ECT PWR light come on my 99 RAV 4? 3
I don't see any problem in the car, only this light is on. What does this mean and what should I do?
There are 2 modes of automatic transmission and you are currently in power mode. There will be a switch to bring it back to normal mode and then the light will go out.
In PWR mode, as you accelerate, you stay in all gears until you reach the red speedline.
In normal mode, a compensation switching model is used for better economy, longer life and more convenience.
Tambo has the best reaction here, but it's a little hard to understand. I will try a simple language.
Your Rav4 has two driving settings. ECT means economy and PWR means energy.
All cars are designed and built to achieve the best combination of performance and fuel economy, with timely transmission changes. When you have more power, you use more gas and get less mpg. People who use more petrol usually have less horsepower.
Therefore, designers will try to balance both horsepower and miles per gallon to get the best out of the car. I mean, it would be fun to burn rubber at a traffic light and compete with the cameras and misters on your Rav4, but your gas mileage will drop to 4 mpg !!
They offer active ECT / DWR mainly for small 4 cylinders. When set to ECT, it is set to economy or normal driving mode. The transmission shifts as fast as possible to get the best mileage per gallon. In power mode, once you get back into driving in this gear the transmission does not shift, you get a little more power and then shift. This is useful when driving in traffic as it gives you a little more power to accelerate. At the performance level, you're not driving a race car, just a little bit more.
But a little more energy uses a little more gas. Not big If you can get 20 mpg with your RaV under normal driving conditions, the power module can get only 2 mpg.
So on the dashboard or maybe on the center console there is a bright button next to the gear shift which you have to press to release from the power settings. This light flashes because it indicates that it is in power mode. Just like when using a bright light, there is a bright blue light near the odometer so you know it is on.
My RAV4 ECT PWR starts, the car goes. I do not want to say anything

This is what you press on the dashboard or gear shift lever, don't worry. It automatically shuts off unless there is a problem with the vehicle.
