At what temperature does polystyrene melt? I need to keep the Styrofoam covered in the papier-mâché in the oven and I need to know if the oven can be kept high. Thank you very much.

I don't want styrofoam to burn and I don't want paper to burn either. Not cooler foam, but another foam they sell at craft stores like Bby Lobby or Michaels. I don't need to know at what temperature styrofoam burns, shrinks, melts or emits smoke. Thank you very much.

Styrofoam melts at about 464 degrees Fahrenheit, but it may require higher temperatures to burn. Paper burns at 451 degrees Fahrenheit, so you may have a problem with that. The paper knife will light up when the styrofoam has melted properly.

Why should I look for it? Do you want to change it to something else? Try gasoline instead of boiling.
