How does a car engine create a vacuum?
Collector vacuum cleaners in passenger cars. Most vehicles use multi-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engines connected to a single intake manifold. On the intake stroke, the piston is lowered into the cylinder and the intake valve opens. As the piston moves downwards, the volume in the upper cylinder is effectively increased and a low pressure is generated.
How to create a vacuum with compressed air
A vacuum pump, like a compressor, is really just an air pump. Both types of devices use the suction side as the suction power. But the air compressor then compresses the air and pushes it to whatever it is attached to, such as a car engine or bicycle tire.
