Definition of Cost of funds index (COFI):
Index of weighted average interest rate paid by US savings institutions (in a particular district) on funds deposited with them or borrowed from other institutions (including the Federal Reserve). It is a market independent and, comparatively, a steady index used mainly for adjustable rate mortgages (ARM). See also COFI loan.
